I hate this. Louisville looks horrible and I can’t fathom any sort of hope. I’m an optimist and I tend to agree with predictions of this team going .500 for the rest of the season. I’m not optimistic about the game tonight and will give you my thoughts below.

Boston College is a team that’s played a lot of close games recently. Two point win over Clemson, four point loss to Georgia Tech, and a two point loss to Pittsburgh. Yea, this is the worst team in the ACC, but this still scares me a bit with how Louisville has trended towards recently. Boston College looks to be taking some form while Louisville seems to be imploding. Anyways, Boston College is not impressive stat wise. They tend to look to get the ball inside, but do not shoot well at a high percentage doing this. The one statistic that seems to stand out is that they do not turn the ball over much and distribute the ball well. I will discuss this later, but their scoring is distributed out well. Defensively, this team is mediocre as well. Boston College is allowing opponents to score over 50% from two point and over 36% from 3 point. Louisville fans will see if they can see some consistent offensive production tonight.

Boston College has 4 players averaging between 10-12 points per game, which tells me they dish the ball out well. Demarr Langford Jr., Makai Ashton Langford,  and Jaeden Zackery all average over 30 minutes a game and share the main responsibility of the scoring. My pick for who will score the most tonight will be Jaeden Zackery who is averaging 10 points with 2 rebounds a game. He has a effective field goal percentage of 57.1% and looks to be able to score at multiple levels on the floor. One thing every Louisville fan is scared of is a 3 point shooter since the fan base  tends to think one opposing player will blow us away with this. Jaeden Zackary is someone with a high 3 point percentage, but does not shoot many per game. Brevin Galloway shoots over 7 three pointers a game, which leads the team. Guards will need to be able to close out on this guy. Louisville fans think Noah Locke shoots a lot of threes, but Brevin shoots almost two more three point shots a game.

I’m safe in saying that Louisville is a hot mess. I’m also safe in saying there is no identity with this team. I tend to think this is due to Mack adjusting with the roster he has and his players not being able to play with a mindset of the pac line defense. Guards aren’t able to play man defense and create constant mismatches due to not getting around screens. I won’t go down this rabbit hole, but will say that this team seems to be trending away from the pac line defense and playing more zone defense. I think this will be  helpful in the long run but Louisville is going through growing pains in late January. Everyone see’s this and seems to have given up.

I tend to think this is more of a disappointment than hope, but I’m ready for Malik to lose the majority of the minutes as the five. Rumor has it that he is playing hurt and I believe it at this point. Malik is getting beat by most big men in the ACC and is wanting to play around the perimeter, which I hate. This may be because he is hurt and not effective in the paint, but I’m unsure. Malik has been loyal throughout, which makes this hard, but it cannot continue.

Overall, fans will learn more about what is going on over time with this season and it will show itself. The CardsSportsZone is reporting that 4 players will be leaving the team then 6 players will leave if Mack is not gone. Whatever is going on it seems like the players are not happy. I tend to think it is the Gaudio situation that has carried over into this year. Mack’s seat is hot with these level two violations coming in. I think Louisville gets a ugly win 65-64. I have never been this low as a Louisville basketball fan, but I’ll be drinking my way through this one in the Yum Center.
